Gate Relay Retrofit Demo
Add phone entry to a gate that already works, with a relay on the gate operator's trigger input.
The story
The gate is forty years old and the call box phone line is being retired. The operator stays where it is. A Wi-Fi relay module (Waveshare, an ESP32 board, or a dry-contact Sonoff) goes on the operator's trigger input, gets added in Relay Manager at multi.doorvi.co and is mapped to the gate. A weatherproof QR tag goes on the pillar. The visitor scans it, video-calls the resident, and the resident taps once to open from anywhere.
How it works
The relay closes a dry contact on the trigger input, exactly as a push button or a card reader would. Nothing on site is replaced: same gate, same motor, same wiring.
What it costs
The relay module is about $30 (for example, Waveshare's ESP32-S3 6-channel relay board lists at US$28.99 on waveshare.com). Installation is quoted by your installer. DoorVi itself is up to $5 per unit per month with no setup or installation fee.
Safety
The gate operator's entrapment sensors are never bypassed, so the UL 325 safety circuit stays exactly as it was. Use a dry-contact relay and have a licensed installer wire it to the trigger input only.
Compatible relays
Waveshare (2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and MQTT), ESP32 boards, Tasmota-flashed modules and dry-contact Sonoff models. DoorVi is an official ProdataKey (PDK) integration partner and also works with Brivo.
Support
DoorVi's support team resolves tickets within 24 hours.
